Think you're too old or not cool enough to serve as a leader?
"When I went over to my friend’s house in middle school, and her mom and I were wearing the same mini skirt from Aeropostle, I didn’t think, 'Wow, Mrs. Amber is the coolest!' I thought, 'I need to burn this skirt.' There is nothing more uncomfortable than an adult who just isn’t growing up. While you may be a Youth Minister, you are not a Youth...
...The good news, my friends, is this: The Gospel is NEVER irrelevant. Bell bottoms may come and go, but forever, the message of the love of God will always be an answer to the longing of humanity. Take confidence in that. If you have the Gospel, you will always be cool enough."

If you are interested in being part of a Discipleship group to go deeper into what it means to live a life that is vibrantly Catholic, invite a friend that you think would dive deep with you and then email Katerina Austin at [email protected]
Following Jesus' example in the Gospels, and in response to the desires/needs expressed by the teens of St. Joseph Marello, Discipleship Groups (aka D-Groups) gather small groups of high school teens (about 4-8 teens per group) with an adult mentor or two to journey together in faith. As a teen, this offers you all of the above experiences and qualities.
Small groups have flexibility on when and how often they meet, so it works with busy schedules. Each group forms a small community where you can belong, where it's safe to be yourself, ask questions, share joys and successes, and participate in an apprenticeship in the Christian life. This isn't just another program.
In addition to the small group meetings, there will also be consistent gatherings of all the small groups together for Social Nights, Prayer Opportunities, Service Projects, etc.
Whether you participate in a Small Discipleship Group or not, all teens are encouraged to participate in various other ministry events, activities, and opportunities:It takes a parish...here's how you can support youth ministry and teens:
